25 Random Factoids
02.03.09 (9:19 pm) [edit]For those that read here as regularly as my posting allows, this is some dumb chain thing from Facebook that my peers are pressuring me into doing. What follows is 25 random bits about myself.
1. I pick up and drop hobbies like hot potatoes. Which probably explains a lot of what follows.
2. Growing up, I hated that my birthday was in late summer. Birthday parties were awkward because you couldn't just invite everyone from your old class because you hadn't seen them in months but you couldn't invite your new class because you didn't know who was going to be in it yet! Also, I NEVER got to have a cupcake on my birthday in class like all the other kids. :-p
3. I moved a lot as a kid, so I don't really have "life long friends". I'm rather jealous of people that have life long friends actually.
4. I come off as shy or stuck up sometimes. I am neither. I am quiet because I am observing and listening. I will speak my mind, don't worry. People will assume I'm shy also because when I talk, I use a soft voice. That's because I am convinced that God gave me an extra dose of hearing in exchange for no smell. So when others can hear me on an average level, I feel like I'm yelling.
5. As mentioned above, I can't smell anything. I am petrified that I will one day die from accidentally drinking spoiled milk.
6. I didn't like my name growing up because everyone else got to bring pencils, lunchboxes, etc. to school with their names on it. I never had any of those because no company carried my name; however, they'd always kindly suggest special ordering the items. My parents wouldn't do that because the company would charge $10 extra.
7. I'm a published poet.
8. I can bellydance. No, I don't give demos.
9. Due to the above, I love Arabic music! Actually, I enjoy listening to most world music.
10. I have always loved animals. I once considered being a vet. Because I love animals I have lots of pets-- 1 dog (Annie), 2 cats (Mustard, Pepper) and 3 sugar gliders (Simeon, Tabitha, Beulah). Only the sugar gliders live me currently.
11. I once had to break up a fight between two parents when umpiring tennis. I told them that if they were going to act like children that I would treat them as such and they could go sit in opposite time out corners. That shut them up pretty quick.
12. I miss going to tennis tournaments with my dad. I think I probably learned more about life than tennis on those trips.
13. I was a tomboy growing up. I climbed trees, played in the neighborhood fort and damaged property which I probably should have been sent to Juvi for instead of playing with dolls. I'm still trying to get used to girly stuff like wearing make-up and fixing my hair everyday.
14. Obese children make me sad. Put the game controller down, go outside and play!
15. I really hope to live in Spain again one day. Their cultural habits fit more with my personal habits than my own culture's does. Examples: I wouldn't mind working late if that meant getting to take a nap during the day. I would prefer to have a HUGE lunch and either go light on dinner or skip it period to go out instead!
16. I don't have a sweet tooth; I have sweet teeth.
17. The women in my family--beside my mom-- pressure me a lot to be more concerned with the traditional woman's household duties. Example: keeping the whole place spotless, cooking every night, keeping a garden or at least potted plants, etc.
18. I'm a pretty good party planner, if I do say so myself. Which is one of the requirements from #17.
19. I never picked up a fiction book on my own until middle school. I preferred non-fiction.
20. I'm a summer girl. I hate wearing the layers of winter.
21. I am SO pleased Greg got me the ring he did and not the solitaire that's so popular right now. I'm big on details and solitaires are sorely lacking in that department.
22. I am so pumped to get married to Greg because he's wonderful of course, but so is his family!
23. I'm really excited nervous about PT school. I just hope and pray that I don't end up in the same mental state that I did this past summer.
24. I can't wait to hit the trail this May with my dad and cousin, Ryan! We're hiking the West Virginia and Maryland portion of the Appalachian Trail.
25. I was in the Underwater Basket Weaving Club in high school. (UWBW for life!)
