Spain Jitters

04.25.07 (11:45 pm)   [edit]

Spain countdown: 64 days until I leave.

The closer Spain gets the more I'm beginning to think that I am absolutely insane for taking this trip. I've never spent more than a week away from home. I haven't shared a room in... years. I've never traveled outside the U.S. in my life. I am no where near fluent in Spanish. My classes will be conducted mostly in Spanish and the grades will transfer to my transcript here at home. I hardly know the people that I'm traveling with. I'm horrible about laughing at my mistakes and learning from them quickly; I'd rather pout. Am I crazy for putting myself in this situation... and my traveling companions? I feel sorry for them most of all.

Seriously, I'm getting really really REALLY scared.

Start praying now, because I'm going to have to go through some crazy tough life lessons and personality conflicts in a foreign country that doesn't speak English with people I hardly know. I'm going to need a lot of strength and flexibility from above and understanding and forgiveness from my travel companions.

I will be praying for you. Think positive and think of it as a gret adventure.

Just try to enjoy yourself. It's an opportunity to learn, experience new things, and have fun.

Hopefully you will enjoy your trip! I'm going to Spain in a couple of months but only for a few days of vacation. I just bought a Spanish phrasebook and have been checking out free learning Spanish sites! I am sure it will be a great learning experience for you!

It will be a most interesting experience and you will learn more
about yourself than you will learning Spanish. It will be a life
altering event in your life. Don't be scared. It is an event that will
only happen ONCE so take full advantage of it.
