A Peep into Higher Education

11.30.06 (10:22 pm)   [edit]

It snowed today! It never snows in November around here! :-D My sister's school was cancelled-- Texas folk freak out when they see a snow flake. It wasn't as bad as the news people make it out to be. I slid a bit on the way to class, but nothing serious. I did witness an accident though-- girl was trying to turn into campus, slid sideways and the car behind t-boned her.

I took my little sis to class with me today since her classes were cancelled. One of my classes was cancelled as well so she only sat through an hour and fifteen minutes on reptiles in zoology. She said she enjoyed the class. It was my idea to take her to class. When I was looking at colleges, the whole atmosphere of college scared me to death until I toured my current university at which we were allowed to sit in on a class if we wanted to. After sitting through the class, I knew that college wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it was and that just maybe I'd make it and have some fun too. I asked the sis to come along for the same purpose-- to show her college is fun learning. I think every high school student should be given the chance to sit through a college class, or maybe even sign up for one at a community college or something prior to graduation and get dual credit back in high school too. I think we'd have more people in college if high schoolers were given a peep into the world of higher education.

That's it for now really. I'm almost ready to go into business on eBay! I'll post a link to a list of my auctions when I get them all listed. Until then, you can still donate to my study abroad trip to Spain with the button below and on the right panel.

That was nice of you to take your sister with you to class.

School and learning is fun, but only when these can be carried out at your own pace. Exams are the real pain ... I like doing assignments though.

Snow in November is nothing to get excited about!

It is a good idea for high school kids to sit in on a college class. I remember doing so back in the day.

Business on e-bay. Selling autographed pictures?

Every now-and-then it snows around here. We don't know what to do with it either, except close everything down and stay home. Which we gladly do.

Yeah, tests are yucky. I have my first final this week. :-p If it weren't for tests, I'd never want to leave school!

Yes, get your headshots while they're hot! ;-)

Everything closes around here too; except for all the "keep community safe" places which involve my parents so I never got to spend a snow day with them. :-/
