The New Domestic Diva

Yes, that would be me: the new domestic diva. Ok, maybe not; however, I have conquered the kitchen and hostessing thing! *BWAHAHAHAHA*

On Saturday evening, I invited several friends plus Greg over for dinner. Now, this doesn't sound like much, but I cooked the meal all by myself for the first time. *big grin* AND I didn't burn the house down! woo-hoo! I had a lovely Italian casserole with a tossed salad, creamcheese garlic rolls and black cherry tea. It really wasn't half bad, it I do say so myself. The entree was only slightly warm when we finally sat down to eat, and it needed some more spices, but other than that I think the whole affair was marvelous. Except my grandma says I needed to shut the curtains in the dining room that faces the street, but you know, I wanted to show off to whoever might drive by the fact that I, of all people, was hosting a get together. 

The reasons I decided to do put it all together are multiple. First of all, I had to prove to myself that I could host a party in my own house. I also had to prove that fact to the matriachs of my family who view hostessing as a most necessary skill for the women in my family. I had to prove to myself that I could indeed follow a recipe well enough to make something that tastes pretty good and doesn't kill anyone. (I really didn't want my first experience alone in the kitchen to be with that poor soul that gets stuck with me for a wife.) So, all in all, I feel much more accomplished in useful skills now. Hooray!

I had to brag on myself for a moment. hehe :-D
